While visiting Castelo de Beja, we walked and explored the outer walls, and walked along the ramparts. From the ramparts, we enjoyed panoramic views of Beja and the surrounding landscape. The castle also houses the Regional Museum of Beja, displaying artefacts and exhibits related to the region’s history.

Located in the heart of Beja, Alentejo, Portugal, this camping site offers excellent facilities for a delightful and immersive experience in nature. Despite the high temperatures during the summer months, the campsite provides ample shade, ensuring a more pleasant stay for campers.
While at Beja Camping, make sure to explore the historical gems of the city, including the Castle and the Wall, the Manueline Arcade, the Palace of Maldonado, the City Park, the Cathedral, the Roman ruins, the Convent of S. Francisco, the House of Culture, the Museum Jorge Vieira, the Visigothic Center, the Botanical Gardens, and the Queen Leonor Museum.
Beyond the city’s boundaries lie charming villages and towns that form the renowned Castle Road, such as Nisa, Castelo de Vide (often called the Sintra of Alentejo), Marvão, Portalegre, and Alter do Chao. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit Alvito, Mértola, and Serpa, as they promise to captivate you with their unique beauty and charm.
In the heart of Beja, this campsite is very well located for a visit to Beja. Just a ten-minute walk to the centre and all the attractions. The bathrooms and shower block were being modernised when we visited. This did not prove a problem as half the block had hot showers and toilets. The other half was closed down for a re-fit. The price was the cheapest of the holiday so far at 4 Euro 27 cents. That was for 2 people and a van for a night’s stay.

Just a few minutes walk from camping Beja are several supermarkets Intermarché, Continente and Lidl. There are also a few shops close by at Centro Commercial. A Homeware store that sells everything, plus several other shops.
If you don’t want to self-cater on the campsite then there are a few restaurants within walking distance. A Chinese called Nova China, An Asian named Ying, and a burger restaurant called Hamburgueria Butcher Burguer. There are a few more all searchable on Google Maps.
