New Brewery Arts Cirencester

We came across the New Brewery Arts by accident. I don’t know how, as it’s a large place right in the middle of the town. We had been out on walking trips in the surrounding villages over a few days. We would then end up in Cirencester to buy food and walk about. After 2 days of walking around the town, we stumbled upon it.

The Cirencester Brewery buildings were once earmarked for demolition. However, a local group proposed the repair and conversion of two of the remaining buildings into craft workshops, and Cirencester Workshops opened in 1978. It’s been here for quite a while now. The artwork being produced by the craft makers is of a high quality. The New Brewery Arts Centre is going to be around for a long time.

The Studios

The studios that surround the site are home to some of the finest artists and craft makers in the region. We had a look at Tracy Elphick’s painting studio. It is full of Mixed media still life paintings, the birds are amazing. The flowers and jugs are bright and fun. Selling originals and prints. Next door is a glass-blowing factory producing all shapes and sizes of blown vases and bowls. Across the courtyard is Daniella Wilson Dunn, Working mainly to commission, Daniella produces a variety of panels in traditional and contemporary designs, for private houses and public buildings.

Staff Team

The New Brewery Arts’ small staff team have a wealth of experience working within the arts, education, retail and charity sectors. The staff team is supported by Trustees. They work together with the on-site makers and the tutors”.

The first floor hosts a cafe, serving soups, salads, Platters, Sandwiches and Cakes. The cafe was very busy when we visited, so we did not stop to have any drinks or food. We intend to visit The New Brewery Arts on another day.
