Maisons Laffitte is an area in the Yvelines department in the northern Île-de-France region of France. It is a part of the affluent outer suburbs of northwestern Paris, 18.2 km from its centre. We stayed at a camping Sandaya campsite named Camping Sandaya Paris Maisons-Laffitte. It’s a brilliant location situated on the edge of the river Seine that runs into Paris. The local trains ran from the town which was about a 10 minutes walk from the site. Using the station Town we went to Les Halles station which was a 26-minute ride. We bought a Navigo Weekly Pass. I think the one from our station was about 30€ for the week. We were in zone 5 which was the furthest outside Paris. You’ll need a photo, we had them taken at the photo booth in the station.

Maisons-Laffitte High Street

Le Fournil de Longueil Bread

Every day on our way back from Paris I made my way to Le Fournil de Longueil a bakery on the high street at 42 Av. de Longueil, 78600 Maisons-Laffitte. It was for a baguette for use with dinner or pastries. This was lovely as they always seemed to be bringing freshly baked bread out of ovens. There was always a queue here so I thought “Do what the locals do”.

Main Street also had a couple of supermarkets, supermarket Carrefour City, Casino supermarché and Franprix.

Maisons-Laffitte Racecourse

Maisons-Laffitte Racecourse is a thoroughbred horse racing venue located in Maisons-Laffitte, near Paris, France. It is one of the premier racecourses in France and hosts many important horse races throughout the year, including the Prix du Jockey Club (French Derby). The racecourse is known for its beautiful surroundings and facilities, including a grandstand with a view of the Seine River. North of the racetrack and surrounding it are lots of riding schools and stables for horse holidays, there must be about 20 or so.

Château de Maisons-Laffitte

Château de Maisons-Laffitte is a castle located in Maisons-Laffitte, a town in the western suburbs of Paris, France. It was a 10-minute walk from the metro station Maisons Laffitte and only 16 16-minute walk from our campsite. Builders constructed the castle in the 17th century, making it one of the finest examples of French classical architecture. Its symmetrical design, elegant facades, and decorative sculptures are noteworthy. Since 1981, this castle has been listed as a French Monument Historique. Additionally, it functions as a cultural centre, hosting various exhibitions and events. The adult ticket price is 8,00 € which is a good price.

Sandaya Maisons-Laffitte campsite is well located for travelling to Disneyland Paris. Paris itself is definitely a beautiful city but simply relaxing at the campsite is also lovely. The location is set directly on the banks of the Seine.
